A Snowy Winter Park Colorado Elopement Ashley & Kenneth

When Ashley and Kenneth decided to elope, they knew they wanted something intimate, meaningful, and completely their own. Instead of a large wedding back home, they traveled from Texas to the snowy mountains of Colorado for a quiet and unforgettable Winter Park, Colorado elopement — just the two of them, the mountains, and a day that unfolded more beautifully than any plan could have predicted.

From the moment we met that afternoon, there was an easy joy between them. The weather was wild — the kind of stormy Colorado mountain weather that can shift from white-out snow to golden light in a matter of minutes — but Ashley and Kenneth embraced every moment of it.

And honestly, that’s what makes an elopement so special.

An Intimate Ceremony at the Stables

We began the afternoon at a quiet horse stable tucked into the snowy landscape near Winter Park, Colorado. The setting felt peaceful and almost cinematic — fresh snow covering the ground, mountains rising in the distance, and the soft presence of horses nearby.

Ashley and Kenneth exchanged their vows privately, just the two of them. No crowd, no distractions — only the words they had written and the meaning behind them.

Ashley also carried the memory of her father with her throughout the day. Though he is no longer with us, his presence was deeply felt, woven into the quiet emotion of the ceremony and the way Ashley held the moment close.

It was simple, heartfelt, and incredibly powerful.

Portraits with the Palominos

After their ceremony, we spent time creating portraits with the beautiful palomino horses at the stable. The golden tones of the horses against the snow made such a striking contrast, and Ashley and Kenneth were completely at ease — laughing, leaning into each other, and soaking in the moment.

One of my favorite parts of photographing elopements is how relaxed couples feel. Without the pressure of a large timeline or guest list, the day becomes about connection and experience.

Ashley and Kenneth fully embraced that.

Riding the Gondola at Winter Park Resort

As the afternoon continued, we made our way to Winter Park Resort to take the gondola up the mountain.

The storm was still rolling through, bringing heavy snowfall and dramatic skies. Instead of rushing through the weather, we slowed down and embraced it.

We spent time warming up and enjoying the atmosphere at the mountaintop restaurant while the snowstorm moved through the mountains.

Then something magical happened.

A Golden Sunset Above the Storm

Just as the evening approached, the clouds began to break. The storm cleared just enough for the sun to push through, casting a golden glow across the snowy peaks.

At the top of the mountain, Ashley and Kenneth stepped out into that soft evening light — the kind of light photographers dream about.

The contrast of fresh snow, glowing skies, and the quiet mountain air created a moment that felt almost surreal. It was the perfect ending to a day that had already been full of meaning.
